Stevenson High School District 125, also known as Adlai E. Stevenson High School, is a school which serves: Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Prairie View, small parts of Buffalo Grove, Mundelein, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods and, to a lesser degree, some parts of Vernon Hills, Lake Zurich, Lake Forest, Mettawa, Riverwoods, Bannockburn, and Deerfield. The school itself has a high enrollment, three thousand plus at last measurement, and is backed by high reviews, such as being ranked the number one-hundred and fifty-one on Newsweek’s 2009 Top 1500 high schools in the United States, an award based on the ratio of advanced placement exams taken and compared to the student population. The school’s area, often just shortened to “Adlai”, was established in 1965 and the current principal is Troy Hobble.
Adlai experiences fairly consistent weather throughout the months, most often in the lower ranges, especially when it comes to the winter months. Residents and visitors can expect fog, occasional thunderstorms and generally cloudy weather due to the effects of chilling, Northern winds and the surrounding Great Lakes and other bodies of water.
Teens aren’t the only one that can have fun in the Adlai area. Whether it is centers for kids to climb a giant treehouse, mini-golf, or some of the natural wonders in the area, there are more than enough things to do for children, teens, and adults alike. The high school also has plenty of sporting, and non-sporting events, for those who want to support The Patriots or the school in general
